Maze and Mira Mercer spent a decade in the fashion industry, building their fashion imprint, LESSONS, into an international enterprise.
LESSONS represented, collaborated and created with some of the most influential established and emerging designers, creatives and brands of that era.
As the business grew, so did the commitments of their external lives. Searching for calm amongst the chaos, they turned inward, through the practices of meditation and yoga.
In 2022, Maze and Mira [known then as Conor and Dani] travelled to Kalbarri, on the remote coast of Western Australia, to remove themselves for a brief period and turn further inward. It was there that a different way to be emerged, and with it the knowing that one chapter was closing and another was beginning.
The pull of this new way to be became greater after returning to their demanding lives and schedules.
Their study and practice of meditation, alongside other disciplines, became central to how they began to identify and live. The desire to give themselves fully to their new Path could no longer be ignored, and LESSONS was put on an extended hiatus.
They knew isolation was needed, not for a brief time, but for a length of time that would provide a comprehensive collapse of what they had previously built their identity around.
They sold their house and the majority of their belongings, keeping only what would fit in their Jeep. With their three dogs, they drove into the heart of the Central Australian outback, where they were permitted to reside in its remote Indigenous Communities.
Over the next four years they developed their practice, deepened their understanding, and furthered their studies and qualifications.
They wrote, they read, they rebuilt.
Through this time both THE FLOW OF THE FOUR FORCES and MERCY OF MIND were created.
Since 2023, their home has been Muṯitjulu, a closed Community where the Traditional Owners of Uluṟu live.
Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa is a deeply spiritual place, to Aṉangu, and to those who travel from around the world to experience it.
It is here that they became Maze and Mira, their new names a reflection of their journey, and of this next chapter in their lives.
Maze and Mira remain living in Muṯitjulu, where they welcomed their baby girl, Mercy, in 2026.
It is from here that they continue to practise, create and share their work.
